People have been capturing film and video for several generations now. Film became more accessible in the 1950's and many once-in-a-lifetime images have been captured. Here are a couple of examples: an oliwell blowout near Leduc, Alberta in the 50's and the Queen of England visiting Edmonton in the early 1960's. These films were usually 3-5 minutes long and are stored on 2-1/2 inch reels. Occasionally the films would be spliced together on larger reels, so the viewers could enjoy longer viewings without the interuption of the projector operator changing reels.
Collecting and viewing these films can be an important part of your family history as well as documenting and remembering the old clothing, hair styles, cars and landscapes. We can help you convert these old fragile films to digital video, preserving the content from deterioration and giving you an opportunity to enhance then with narration, background music, titles and color enhancement and correction.
Films are carefully inspected for cracks and tears and cleaned prior to the telecine transfer. Flicker is eliminated and some enhancement to the brightmness and color is made. Your films will be organized on a DVD with menus for each film or placed together in a continous show, depending on your preference. Call or email us with your needs and we will help you determine the best way to preserve your memories.
This is generally a time intesive process. We charge a set rate that includes the set-up fee of $50.00 plus $2.00 per minute, so it makes sense to do more films at one time. Other features such as sound and titles will cost a little more, but we will be happy to help you plan your project with the features you want without going over budget!
